The Astonishing Amazon rainforest
Welcome to Emerald Earth. In this blog we tell everything on Earth from beauty to its dereliction. Earth has many places but none like the Amazon rainforest. Where the Flora meets Fauna.
The Amazon Rainforest is a beautiful place that is full of unique animals, millions of miles of trees, and rare species of plants and bugs – some that haven’t even been discovered yet! This stunning rainforest gives us so much more than interesting plants and animals to learn about.
It helps balance the global carbon levels by absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and plays a key role in the global water cycle, stabilizing global climate and rainfall. It produces more than 20% of the Earths oxygen. It is also responsible for the origin of 80% for the food in the world! And is home to many people, plants, and animals but every year a deathly fire rises in the amazon forest!
Unlike
other types of forests, the Amazon is not evolved in origin of the fire. Fire is commonly used in the Amazon as a technique to clear
land for cattle ranches, plantations or other uses. Sometimes the fires
can be spurred by deforestation caused by humans too.
what are the effects of this fire?
The burning of trees produces harmful
smoke which the animal inhale. This leads to dangerous health issues. The
effects of the fires are also being felt across Brazil. Parts of the country
are covered in smoke, deforestation and a worldwide increase in temperatures.
The local impacts of these fires are also significant.
How long has the Amazon rainforest been having fires?
The amazon
forest has been having annual fires since 2014 and it will go on unless we
change it. The fate of innocent animals and the beautiful plants lie in our
hands. Let us choose to save the forest.
